So much of our time is measured with digital clocks these days, so this is an interesting work to get children familiar with recognizing numbers and time in a digital format.  Children can first use the LCD segments to build individual numbers using an included digital print-at-home file.  There are enough LCD segments provided in the set to build all 10 numerals at one time.  Then the child can start building numbers and times on the digital clock display frame.  Each LCD segment has its own slot and sits higher than the frame, so little fingers can easily place and remove the segment without disturbing surrounding pieces.
The digital clock display frame is made from birch plywood and basswood, both sanded smooth and left in their natural unfinished states.  The LCD segments are made from birch plywood and then stained and sealed to provide contrast with the display frame.  Frame measures 3.6" high by 9" wide and each LCD segment is a bit longer than 1".  Due to the small pieces, this work is not recommended for younger children.
I created this after making the analog teaching clock, they make a great set!
